It was a very sad day for me! on hearing we had lost Errol, the memory of our great gigs together at Soup plus and the many other gig's out side of Sydney. They will always be in my thoughts.
He was a superb musician I had known as a friend from age 16. And later as band manager and his drummer for 8 years. Under his creative direction I gained a different and exciting approach on drums that he designed for his playing. Modeled on the American drummers approach to jazz, that he admired and worked with in America. On reflection I consider myself now well tutored in jazz by one of Australia's if not one of the worlds finest woodwind musicians. As it happened I was the last person to say good by to him with his amazing phone conversation late the night before.
Hearing he had passed, early the next morning I felt that was really him saying good by to me. See you on the next gig Errol. Bob Baird. 27/ 8/2018.Bob Baird could you please put me in touch with Errol Buddles family.
